AdoptVilla: A Story That Began With Tinku and Max

Some of the most important things in life happen when you least expect them.

For me, two of those things had four paws, wagging tails and a way of making every day better.

Their names were Tinku and Max.

Tinku was already part of our family. He had his own personality, his own routines and his own favourite places around Indore. He was the familiar face we looked forward to seeing when we returned home, the companion who made an ordinary day feel a little less ordinary.

Then, one August night, Max came into our lives.

It was around 1:30 AM. I was driving near the zoo in Indore when I spotted a tiny puppy in the middle of the road.

I stopped the car, picked him up and searched both sides of the road for his mother and siblings. I spent nearly half an hour looking, but there was no sign of them.

A little farther away was an under-construction mall, away from the immediate traffic. I left him there, hoping he would be safer.

Then I drove home.

But I couldn't stop thinking about him. I kept wondering whether he would find his way back onto the road, whether he would be safe, and whether I had done enough.

At around 3:30 AM, I got back into my car and returned to check on him.

He was still there.

That was it. He was coming home.

I made a shoebox his temporary bed for the night. Tinku, in his own way, welcomed the little newcomer and wanted him to sleep beside him.

The next morning, my mother and father welcomed Max into the family. I gave him a bath and took him to Tinku's favourite veterinarian for a checkup.

And just like that, our family had grown.

A life shared together

One taught him how to live. The other taught us how much love could grow.

Max was tiny, curious and full of energy. He learned the ways of the house by following Tinku around. He learned where to go, how to settle in and how to make himself at home. He had toys of his own, but what he really wanted was to play with Tinku.

In those early days, I could watch Max jumping around Tinku endlessly, while Tinku looked like he desperately needed some rest.

It was a beautiful kind of chaos.

For my mother, father and me, coming home became one of the best parts of the day. Tinku and Max would greet us together, jumping with joy, licking and kissing us as if we'd been away for months rather than hours.

Those little moments became our family's everyday happiness.

As they grew older, they each found their own worlds. Tinku spent his afternoons roaming around Manorama Ganj, while Max played with children in the premises of Arniya Plaza.

Max had a way of making friends wherever he went. He became more than our family dog. People around the premises knew him and loved him as The People's Dog.

Tinku and Max were different in so many ways, but they shared something important: they made people feel connected, brought joy into ordinary moments and made our home feel more complete.

They were two of the best things that ever happened to us.

Max lived for 15 years, remaining active and full of life until his final days. And when he was gone, the people who had come to know him felt his absence, too.

That is when you realise that a dog can belong to an entire community, not just one family.

The reason behind AdoptVilla

Why AdoptVilla exists

When I look back at Tinku and Max's lives, I think about how differently their stories began.

Tinku was already home when Max arrived. Max began as a tiny puppy alone on a road in the middle of the night.

One had a home. The other needed one.

What followed was 15 years of companionship, learning, laughter and love that changed our family forever.

That night, I went back for Max because I couldn't stop thinking about what might happen if I didn't.

I didn't know then that this small decision would become part of a story I would carry for the rest of my life.

Today, that story is one of the reasons I'm building AdoptVilla.

There are so many animals still waiting for someone to notice them, care for them and give them a chance. There are people who would make wonderful pet parents but need help finding the right path to adoption. There are rescuers and organisations doing meaningful work who deserve better ways to connect with people willing to help.

I want AdoptVilla to help bring these worlds together.

A place where adoption becomes easier to discover, where the people helping animals can find support, and where more animals have an opportunity to experience the security and affection that Tinku and Max brought into our lives.

Because adoption is not just about taking an animal home.

It is about making room for a new relationship. It is about the excitement at the door, the familiar footsteps beside you, the daily routines you never realise you will miss, and the memories that stay long after those footsteps are gone.

Sometimes, you think you are rescuing an animal.

Years later, you realise how much that animal gave you in return.

Their love lives on

For Tinku. For Max. For every animal still waiting.

I cannot change the way Max's story began. But I can work towards a future in which more animals get the chance to begin their own stories in loving homes.

Tinku showed us the comfort of companionship. Max showed us how one decision can change an entire life — and, in doing so, change ours.

Their stories are the heart behind AdoptVilla.

This is for every puppy waiting to be noticed.

For every dog hoping to belong.

For every rescuer who refuses to give up.

And for every person who has yet to discover that the animal they welcome home may become one of the best things that ever happens to them.

AdoptVilla is our way of carrying that love forward.

For Tinku. For Max. And for all the ones still waiting.

Welcome to AdoptVilla. Every adoption begins with a chance. Let's make that chance count.
